Social development, wellbeing and leadership in the service of people

María Cristina Colorado is a social worker from Universidad de Antioquia and a Specialist in Project Management, with an extensive professional career in social development, wellbeing, leadership, psychosocial support, human development and community work.

For much of her career she has worked with public education and training institutions, especially the Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje – SENA and Universidad Nacional de Colombia – Medellín Campus, developing and coordinating programs focused on the wellbeing, retention, coexistence, leadership and quality of life of students and apprentices.

At SENA she has carried out activities linked to the National Apprentice Wellbeing Plan, working in areas such as health, socio-economic promotion, intellectual development, leadership, counselling and guidance, protection, coexistence, social responsibility and the strengthening of life skills.

She has also held leadership and coordination roles in Apprentice Wellbeing teams, as well as planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of social intervention programs and projects.

Her experience includes designing and delivering community projects aimed at strengthening coexistence, peace, social leadership, social skills and personal growth in communities across Antioquia.

At Universidad Nacional de Colombia – Medellín Campus she built a long career in Student Wellbeing, especially in socio-economic management and support, conducting socio-economic studies, interviews, home visits, student accompaniment, support management, coexistence programs and strategies to foster educational retention.

She also holds complementary training in mental health, emotional intelligence, life skills, psychopathologies, participatory action research, leadership, human rights and pedagogical strategies.

She is also the creator of the Ser Esencia project, focused on recognizing and managing emotions, personal growth, human development and adapting to change.

More than two decades working for wellbeing, human development and social transformation.
